1. WHAT ARE COOKIES?

LocalsFromZero uses cookies and similar technologies to help provide, protect, and improve the LocalsFromZero platform. This policy explains how and why we use these technologies and the choices you have. A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your device (e.g. your phone or your computer). For example, a cookie could allow us to recognize your browser, while another could store your preferences. There are two main types of cookies used on the LocalsFromZero platform: (1) “session cookies” and (2) “persistent cookies.” Session cookies normally expire when you close your browser, while persistent cookies remain on your device after you close your browser, and can be used again the next time you access the LocalsFromZero platform.

Personal data is collected, used and processed on a legal basis, which means that the personal data of an individual is processed to fulfill the applicable legal obligations imposed by the legislation in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Regulation (EU) 2016/679 or the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) entered into force on 25 May 2016 and applies from 25 May 2018. The regulation is universally applicable and directly binding on all States of EU.

The amended Electronic Communications Act of the Republic of Slovenia, which entered into force at the beginning of 2013, introduced new rules regarding the use of cookies and similar technologies for storing data or accessing the data stored on a user’s computer or mobile device.

Data subjects have a constitutional and legal right to the protection of their data and the right to individually decide on their information privacy. In this sense, cookies intrude upon the individual’s privacy. The new legislation thus restricts the use of cookies.

The new legislation does not prohibit the use of cookies but enforces stricter rules as to under which conditions and how cookies and similar technologies can be used. It is of key importance that platform visitors are informed about the use of cookies and given a choice as to whether they agree to have their online activities tracked by the platform in this manner.

More information about data collecting can be found in our Privacy Policy

3. THIRD PARTIES

We may also allow certain business partners to place these technologies on the LocalsFromZero platform. These partners use these technologies to (1) help us analyze how you use the LocalsFromZero platform, such as by noting the third party services from which you arrived, (2) market and advertise LocalsFromZero services to you on the LocalsFromZero platform and third party websites, (3) help us detect or prevent fraud or conduct risk assessments, or (4) collect information about your activities on the LocalsFromZero platform, other sites, and/or the ads you have clicked on. For example, to help us better understand how people use the LocalsFromZero platform, we work with a number of analytics partners, including Google Analytics. To prevent Google Analytics from using your information for analytics, you may install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser by clicking here.

Third parties may also use such tracking technologies to serve ads that they believe are most likely to be of interest to you and measure the effectiveness of their ads both on the LocalsFromZero platform and on other websites and online services. Targeting and advertising cookies we use may include Google, and other advertising networks and services we use from time to time. For more information about targeting and advertising cookies and how you can opt out, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s opt-out page, the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out page, or http://youronlinechoices.eu. To opt out of Google Analytics for display advertising or customize Google display network ads, you can visit the Google Ads Settings page. To the extent advertising technology is integrated into the LocalsFromZero platform and you opt-out of tailored advertising, you may still receive advertising content. In that case, the advertising content will just not be tailored to your interests. Also, we do not control any of these opt-out links and are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of these mechanisms.

4. THIRD-PARTY SOCIAL PLUGINS

The LocalsFromZero platform may use social plugins provided and operated by third parties, such as Facebook’s login and Google login. As a result of this, you may send the information that you are viewing on a certain part of the LocalsFromZero platform to a third party. If you are not logged into your account with the third party, then the third party may not know your identity. If you are not logged into your account with the third party, then the third party may be able to link information or actions about your interactions with the LocalsFromZero platform to your account with them. Please refer to the third party’s privacy policies to learn more about its data practices.

A few examples of the types of cookies and other technologies LocalsFromZero uses:

LocalsFromZero uses cookies that provide functionality and help us deliver our products and services - for instance, by storing your preferences (e.g. language, region), pre-filling the username field when you log in, watching Youtube videos embedded on the platform, browsing through Google Maps etc.

Cookies make interacting with social media platforms more seamless. For example, when you’re signed into social media accounts while you use our Services, these technologies enable you to share content with your social network or, in some cases, log in using your social media credentials.

4.2 ANALYTICAL COOKIES

Cookies and other technologies also help us to understand, improve, and research features and content on the LocalsFromZero platform all for the purpose of improving visitor’s experience in the future. For example, we may use cookies to understand how you are interacting with our platform or to determine which types of browsers or devices are accessing LocalsFromZero. You can opt out of being included in Google Analytics here.

4.3 MARKETING COOKIES

Cookies help us deliver targeted advertisements on social media platforms, based on your activity on LocalsFromZero, including the experiences you visited on LocalsFromZero, and to track the performance of those ads. This way your experience will be personalized and we may send you relevant content and offers. This is sometimes referred to as online behavioral advertising. In some cases, our partners may use cookies to provide us with information about your interactions with their services. Those third-party cookies would be subject to the third-party service’s policies. Certain choices you make are both browsers - and device-specific.

4.4 YOU CAN CONTROL CERTAIN COOKIES

Your browser may give you the option to control cookies. How you do this depends on the type of cookie and the browsers you use. Certain browsers can be set to reject browser cookies. Blocking or deleting cookies may prevent you from using most of our services. To learn more about how to enable, disable or delete cookies from your web browser, please visit here. To control Flash cookies that are used from time to time on certain websites, you can go here. Why? Because Flash cookies cannot be controlled through your browser settings.

4.5 OUR DO NOT TRACK POLICY

Some browsers have “do not track” features that allow you to tell a website not to track you. These features are not all consistent. We do not currently respond to those signals. If you block cookies, certain features on our platform may not work. If you block or reject cookies, not all of the tracking described here will stop.

Certain options you select are browser- and device-specific.

We may also allow our business partners/Third Parties to use their cookies and other tracking technologies through LocalsFromZero. As a result, when you access or use LocalsFromZero, you will provide or make available certain information to us and to our business partners.

Please note that even if you choose to opt-out of receiving targeted advertising, you may still receive advertising on or about LocalsFromZero, but not tailored to the User’s interests. In addition, if you disable cookies, you may lose some of the features and functionality of using LocalsFromZero, Application and Services, as cookies are necessary to track and enhance your use and access.

Google Maps is a web service which displays interactive maps in order to display visual representations of geographical information. This service is used to show you our location and make it easier to get to us. When you access the subpages featuring integrated Google Maps, information on your use of our platform (such as your IP address) is sent to Google servers in the USA and stored there. This occurs irrespective of whether you are logged into a user account provided by Google or you do not have a user account. If you are logged into Google, your data is directly assigned to your account. If you do not wish it to be assigned to your Google profile, you must log out before activating the button. Google stores your data (even for users who are not logged in) as usage profiles and evaluates these. Any such evaluation occurs, in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on Google’s legitimate interest in placing personalized advertising, market research and/or needs-based design of its platform. You have the right to object to the creation of these usage profiles. To exercise this right, you must approach Google. Google LLC, with its headquarters in the USA, is certified for the US-European ‘Privacy Shield’ data protection framework, which guarantees compliance with the level of data protection applicable in the EU. If you do not agree to your data being transmitted to Google in future in conjunction with the use of Google Maps, you can also fully deactivate the Google Maps web service by turning off the JavaScript application in your browser. Google Maps and the map display on this platform can then no longer be used. You can view Google’s terms of use at www.google.de/intl/en/policies/terms/regional.
